Advisory Opinions
| Rule | For advisory opinions, the following form should be used:
Inter-American Court of Human Rights, <Title> (Advisory Opinion) <Document no> (ser <x>) (<Year>). |

Dissenting Judgments
| Rule | For dissenting opinions, the following form should be used:
<Parties names separated by āvā> [<Year>] Inter-Am Court HR (ser <x>) No <no> <Pinpoint> <(Dissenting Opinion of Judge(s) <Judge(s) Name(s)>)> ('<Abbreviated case name>'). |
NOTE:
- Unlike other OAS documents, the series number is not indicated within the document number.
- Therefore, be sure indicate this in parentheses after the document number.
NOTE:
- The Inter-American Court of Human Rights is not to be confused with the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights.
- The Inter-American Court of Human Rights should be referred to as the 'IACHR' in all citations.
- An alternative abbreviation must be used for the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights.

- Series B: Pleadings, Oral Arguments, Documents
- Series C: Decisions, Judgments
